Description
The Municipality of Güeñes is located in the oriental area of the district of Encartaciones, inside the County of Bizkaia, located in the valley of the river "Cadagua", having an extension of 41,49 km2. It is located in a strongly uneven area, in a strait it fences traveled by the creek "Cadagua" and surrounded by the mounts "Ubieta" and "Eretza" to the north and "Ilso", "Gallarraga" and "Ganekogorta" for the south.The town councils of Güeñes and Zalla formed the old "Valley of Salcedo", been founded in the XII century by the BLOND count DÍAZ DE ASTURIAS, depending on the Kingdom of Asturias. The town council took name of the town in which was "Santa María's" main church erected by MARTIN SANCHEZ, in times of DIEGO LÓPEZ DE HARO the Good one, gentleman of Bizkaia reedificada in 1.520.

Located in the Municipality of Ibarrangelu this beach it is the biggest in the whole creek of Mundaka. It has all kinds of services.
The quality of the waters is good in the part that gives to the sea being the bathroom with caution in the part that gives to the creek.
Ideal for the practice of the piragüismo and the surf as well as for the infantile bathroom due to the little depth of their waters.
From the beach we can sight the island of Izaro and if what we like is the good surf, I joust he/she faces he/she finds the impressive wave of Mundaka. Denominated as the best Left in Europe and one of the best of the world.
This year it has been granted him/her the blue flag.
