Description
We can affirm that Layos had an old origin, as they attest it some sepulchers opposing rupestres between the rural nucleus and the stream of Guajaraz, together with other discoveries of lithic materials.
For some historians the toponym "Layos" would come to be a derived antropĂłnimo of "Cajus", name that designated to this town carpetano to the arrival of the Roman conquerors. It is also thought that it could have been originated in the Greek word "Llayos" that means unevenness, hondura. Although the most probable thing is that he/she is derived of "Layator" that in Castilian "farmer of lands means with hoe", supposing that his first people were peasants
