Description
The name of Galapagar is due to that the first urban establishments inside our municipal term were located around a small lagoon in which a colony of tortoises existed; for this reason, in the official shield of the municipality they appear represented these animals.
The presence of the Roman Empire in the municipality is captured in a roadway of the century III a.c. and in the bridge of Alcanzorla. Already in the XI century Galapagar like population's nucleus administered by the Town council Segoviano appears. Later the meadow of Galapagar is described, according to the Book of XI (XIV century) Alfonso's Hunt, as a good winter mount belonging to the Real one of Orchards, frequented in the real hunts.

Grove of Chavela is a municipality of the mountain west of the Community of Madrid, located 65 km. of the capital in an environment of mountains, among the mountains of Guadarrama and of Gredos.
Their population has experienced a remarkable growth in the last years, as a consequence of the phenomenon of the conversion of the second housing in stable residence. At the present time Grove overcomes those 3.500 inhabitants, with 30 inhabitants' population's density for square kilometer.
The urban area is distributed between the urban helmet and an area north call "The Station", as well as a great number of urbanizations that you/they extend around both areas. Grove also has several uninhabited (Navahonda, those Beheaded, Source Lamps and the Coal merchant), so that the municipal term understands the 93 square kms.

The municipality was formed with the repopulation of people from Segovia in times of Alfonso X. From the XIV century until the XIX one belonged to Orchards the Real one, being its main mean of subsistence the wool.
The construction of the reservoir flooded the Virgin's hermitage of Pricking with thorns, I center of great devotion whose image is nowadays in the new hermitage.
Saint John the Baptist Church, of the XVI century. It possesses a Gothic turret of three bodies and a beautiful cover belonging to the Gothic isabelino. More than thirty years recently Guadalix was a small small town of the mountain from Madrid. From then on the chalets and housings unifamiliares have proliferated.
