For that time in this district some iron mines were exploited, a sample of the romanization is the Roman altar found in Xerdiz and that today is in the Provincial Museum of Lugo.
The history of Ourol was always bound to that of the neighboring village of Viveiro on whose jurisdiction depended most of its parishes, consequently these lands were part of the headquarters mindoniense until 1346........
