Description
Alcarria Conquense is located in the end noroccidental of the county of Cuenca. Their diversity paisajĂstica, their patrimonial, gastronomic, handmade wealth and their recreational offer, they transform to the district into a place worthy of being visited, enjoying their traditions and of the simplicity and their people's hospitality.
The field and their towns, with their traditional constructions manifest that worthy, calm aspect and I calm that has transmitted them the step of the time. A journey for their streets, a conversation with its people or the visit to some of its monuments will allow the traveler to know the customs of an earth that he has known how to maintain them carefully, as if of a treasure it was.

Town of recoleto urban line in which the eddies settled down by their plazuelas transmit us pleasant tranquil serenity that he/she always invites to the view of the immense plains that you/they open up to their surroundings, fearful of the impressive mount of CastejĂłn that he/she keeps and it dominates the area. Of highlighting in the municipality it is the Church of Ntra. Sra. of the Nativity that I eat curiosity, it presents two big buttresses in the head, that makes suspect that in their origin the form was different. The main door is an arch of light with arch of half point flanked by pilasters without architectural order but with globules in its you finish off.

Some authors mention that "the name of Algarra is derived of the voice Phoenician 'alygar' that means 'the dangerous one.'.." (Muñoz and Soliva). In any way, what seems sure is the foundation of an agricultural small colony "in a very rich vega to the skirt of a curled mound (Miguel Romero)." In our town we don't have big strengths, neither castles, neither archaeological remains of last civilizations that deserve the appellative of important or of historical interest. But yes we have small prints of our past, scarce and modest remains that demonstrate us that we have history, roots and that they are worthy of our most absolute respect and admiration, because as well it is said when speaking of the historical past: "the man that forgets his history is condemned to repeat it
