Description
The etymological origin of the toponym CESPÓN goes back to the XII century, where the first references written with the name Sancti Vicentii of Sispalona appear. The first mentions of Valmaior and Sandrezo also appear. In later references, denominations like freguesÃa of Sancti appear Vicencii of Sespaone and Sancti Vicentii of Sespaom
Although the first references of CESPÓN appear in the XII century, everything seems to indicate that for the year 858, the cesponcenses could have the first affrays with the Vikings that entered for the first time in the creek of Arousa, arriving until he/she would Go Flavia and Santiago. One century later, in 968, he/she took place the Battle of Fornelos, where the Vikings plundered the main cities of Galicia after defeating the bishop Sisnando again.
