Description
The Nature has conformed a privileged space around the head of the valley of the river Eresma, here also well-known as river ValsaÃn. For the exuberance of their forests, the mounts of ValsaÃn were from very old the scenario of hunts for kings' enjoyment and noblemen. During Enrique's reign III modest hunt pavilions were built in ValsaÃn and in what today is The Farm. In this last place, next to the refuge of hunters, Enrique IV lifted a hermitage under the invocation of San Ildefonso, in gratefulness for the saint's intercession in a he/she rushes with a wild animal. Reyes Catholics donated the house and the hermitage from San Ildefonso to the monks jerónimos of The Arbor of Segovia who established a farm here for relief and rest. On the old pavilion of hunt of ValsaÃn, Felipe II supervised being still prince the construction of the Real House of the Forest, witness of the splendor and the decadence of the Empire of Austrias.
