Description
Marcilla seems to be that it was founded by the Visigothic king Gundemaro toward the year 610, which erected a monastery. Years later, in 1160, the wife of Sancho the Sage, doña Sancha, it reconstructed it again, placing a community of Cistercian nuns. He/she appears written for the first time in the XIII century.
In 1408 the dominion of Marcilla belonged to the monastery of The Olive, but veintiún later years, Mosén Pierres of it Banks it got that Carlos III banish the Cistercian nuns to Cambrón, monopolizing in its profit the complete dominion of the town and of all the lands that corresponded him/her. These passed their descendants ulteriorly the marquises of Falces.
