Description
The name of the village derives of the word pedrón, a Roman militario that was located in the bank of the creek of Arosa and, to the one that according to the legend, he/she got tied up the boat that carried the Apostle's body Santiago. This pedrón that today is in the parochial church of Santiago of Census, gave origin to the toponym of the town...Since the Apostle's remains were taken to Santiago of Compostela, Census he/she transforms into the principle of the route toward the sepulcher for the pilgrims that arrive for sea. He/she also transforms into objective for the Viking and Norman sackers among the centuries X and XI, for that that Alfonso V ordered to reconstruct western Torres, old Castellum honesti of Roman origin, at the beginning of the XI century and, this way, the village left of being assaulted, enjoying a great prosperity during the XII and XIII centuries......
