The most outstanding building in the municipality is Palacio of Soñanes, Good of cultural interest with monument category from 1981. It is about the civil most magnificent construction in the Baroque Cantabrian architecture. He/she got up between 1719 and 1724, to instances of Juan Antonio Díaz of Maple and Pérez of the Road. The tradition has attributed the design to the Italian architect Cossimo Fontanelli, to who Díaz of Maple would have known during his stay in Rome and whose plans would have been interpreted then by stonemasons of the region. The current investigation spreads to attribute the appearances to the architect Francisco of Riva Thief of Guevara, natural of Galizano (Ribamontán to the Sea), teacher bigger than the cathedral of Oviedo. The teacher stonemason that directed the construction was Simón of Maple Muñoz, of the one who other interventions are only known in religious works in Selaya and Tezanos.   Author tracX

In a principle they are few the students, those of the town of Villacarriedo and some interns. Little by little he/she goes growing their fame and he/she goes enlarging, in what refers to the building .que everything it was not built suddenly, but rather he/she ended with the structure that now has at the end of s. XIX - and in what refers to the number of students, mainly internal, since the external ones they were the children of Villacarriedo and neighboring towns to him.   Author marioquartz
