The House of the Shells of Salamanca is a building of Gothic style and plateresque elements. Their construction begins in 1493. In the interior they highlight the patio with arches mixtilíneos, the stairway and the one coffered. The Gothic late style combines with the Renaissance new air of the plateresque one.It begins to be built toward 1493 and their construction concluded in 1517. Toward 1701 the house is repaired and it enlarges, the facade that gives toward Rúa appearing.In 1929 National Monument is declared.From 1993 and after a long restoration, it houses in their interior a Public Library of the State.In 1997 their proprietor, the Count of Santa Coloma, the delivery to the Meeting of Andalusia like payment of taxes.In 2005 the Meeting of Andalusia the exchange for another building with the State, their current proprietor.Urban representative Palacio of the court new nobility of the XVI century.The building is built with reason of don's matrimonial link Rodrigo Aryans Maldonado with doña María of Pimentel. Shells and lis flowers, symbols of both families, appear spread by the whole building. Throughout the history it has suffered important modifications and restorations. Béjar is a municipality in the county of Salamanca, in the Autonomous Community of Castile and León, Spain. It is at a distance of 72 km of Salamanca, the provincial capital. It is head of Judicial party. In 2005 bill with a population of 15102 inhabitants, of which 7136 are male and 7966 are women, in a surface of 45,74 km². Their altitude is of 959 m on the sea level.Other nucleuses: Fuentebuena (52 hab., 25 males and 27 women), Hard-twisted (231 hab.) and Valdesangil (177 hab., 89 males and 88 women.). City Rodrigo is a Spanish municipality in the county of Salamanca, in the Autonomous Community of Castile and León.
