Vall of Uxó whose name comes from Latin Fences of the Sun, it has been occupied by human groups from the Prehistory, basically around "Font of Sant Josep", at the moment the place of San José's underground River.In San José's" "Hill, beside the Center of Information they are the remains of an Iberian town, what seems to demonstrate that the population of Vall of Uxó had a considerable expansion. They are uncertain the origins of the city of Vinaròs. Going back to the Iberian town of "Puig."An alquería existed beside the sea, well-known in the XIII century as of those "Beni-Al-Arus." Mentioned this alquería, in the Letter Puebla (29 September of 1241) that became in a Christian town after the conquest of Peñíscola for the king Jaime I, in 1233, receiving the name of Bynalaroç. In the Half Age it depended on the castle of Peñíscola, the same as neighboring Benicarló, until he/she became independent and a growth that transformed it into the main capital of the north of the Valencian Community began. In the XVI century he/she met the movement of the Slangs, participating in favor of the Crown, what was worth him/her, the year 1540, the title of Villa. He/she had a port of the most important of Mediterranean, with some big shipyards, where big ships were built. For this port they went aboard those more than 15.000 Moorish expelled of the Kingdom in 1609.Durante centuries, Vinaroz suffered the attacks of the Moorish pirates and, hence, like in the whole Valencian coast, they are towers of surveillance and watchtowers, with the function of warning to the population in the event of danger: it is the case of the one denominated "turret Moorish" dels that is at the moment in ruins popularly.In the XIX Century, it had a local militia for the defense of the city and a wall was built that surrounded it. With the support that was lent to the throne during the Carlist wars, the queen Isabel II, it granted him/her, in 1862, the title of "Very Noble and Loyal Villa." Benicarló is a municipality of the county of Castellón, Valencian Community, Spain belonging to the district of the First floor Maestrazgo.Parochial Church of San Bartolomé. Of the XVIII century, with Baroque cover and steeple octogonal. The Baroque great facade is made of stone and it frames the cover. He/she has two bodies: the superior formed by a great niche with San Bartolomé's image that is finished off by two columns salomónicas. The interior of the temple is a single ship with cruise and chapels among the buttresses; on the cruise a great dome runs off with. The altarpiece of the Virgin of the Remedy is a painting with the Virgin and the Boy sat down in the throne, surrounded by different saints. Benicasim (in Valencian, Benicàssim) is a municipality of the county of Castellón, Valencian Community, Spain belonging to the district of the High Page. Whose population is of 16.200 inhabitants (INE 2005) during the winter, being arrived to more than 40.000 in the summery period, since their economy is based on the tourism.Previously to the reconquest, the Castle of Montornés constituted one of the Arab most important feuds in these territories. We also lack news on their destruction and the causes that motivated it. Nevertheless, it is known that the Castle was inhabited until final of the XV century. As it is deduced by their name, it would belong to the "benicasim" that occupied the castle of Montornés before the Christian conquest, first for Cid and finally for the king Jaime I of Aragon. credos |
