Alicante (in Valencian, Alacant) is the second more important city of the Valencian (Spain) Community, with a near population to those 320.000 inhabitants. Located in the mediterranean coast, it is the capital of the county of Alicante and of the district of AlacantÃ. It forms a conurbation of more than 430.000 inhabitants with the neighboring towns of San Vicente of Raspeig, San Juan from Alicante, Muchamiel and Campello. Also, the metropolitan area of Alicante-Elche he/she has some 711.000 inhabitants. It is an eminently tourist city and of services.The city is beside Mediterranean, in a plain drawn by a series of hills and elevations. The mount Benacantil, with 169 m of height dominates the urban facade in which we also find the mount Tossal (where he/she settles San Fernando's castle), San Julián's Sierra or Serra Grossa, the hills of Garbinet and Tossal of Manises. picture |

Near Elche (Alicante, Spain) it exists a mound that the Arabs Alcudia (mound) called and that in the antiquity it was almost surrounded by a river. It is known that it was an Iberian called establishment Helike and that the Romans called Illici August Colony Julia. When the Arabs arrived, they located the city more below, in the flat part, conserving the Roman toponym of Illici that was arabizado for the sound elche. In this mound or alcudia it is where the Lady of Elche was.It is this an unique work that is dated in the century IV adC or perhaps in V, not comparable with any Iberian other discovery. Elche (in Valencian: Elx) it is a Valencian city located in the county of Alicante (Spain) and beside the river Vinalopó. He/she has a term munipal of 326 km². Head of the district of the First floor Vinalopó, their population reaches those 215.137 inhabitants, being the second city of the county of Alicante and third of the Valencian Community in population. Their climate is mediterranean arid with some precipitations of 250 mm to the year and some temperatures that oscillate between January 12º and July 27º, being reached every summer maxims above the 35º. According to data of the Valencian Generality, the municipality is for the most part castellanohablante, although it exists a non worthless proportion of inhabitants that uses the Valencian one habitually, mainly at family level, percentage that is increased in some rural departures. Torrevieja is a Spanish municipality located in the south of the Valencian Community, in the district Low De la Vega of the Sure one, beside Mediterranean. With 84.348 inhabitants, it is the third city in population of the county of Alicante, from behind of Alicante and Elche.City dedicated traditionally to the fishing and the extraction of salt (Lagoons of Torrevieja and The Bush), is at the moment an important nucleus of tourism arriving to more than 700.000 people in high season. picture |
