The municipality of Coruña (whose official denomination and in Galician it is Coruña) is the capital of the county of Coruña (Autonomous Community of Galicia, Spain). It is located in the end noroccidental of the country. It is an Atlantic city with soft climate. It is headquarters of the Superior Tribunal of Justice of Galicia, the Government's Delegation in this community and the Galician Real Academy. Also it welcomes the General Northwest Captaincy and it is headquarters of the Logistical Operative Control of the Army of Earth.The name Coruña Caronium comes from Latin that was a Roman oppidum. In times of Fernando II of León (XII century) appear the toponym for the first time Crunia. In 1262 the article appeared being the toponym Crunia that evolved to Coruña with the time.TambÃen exists the archaic denominations of TO Cruña and Ace Cruñas that are at the moment in disuse.

A registration of tithes of the church, dated in 1483 is the first document that he/she mentions the city. Until the XVII century, the port of Ribeira was of little importance in the region, partly to constants incursions of Viking, sarracenos and pirates of the XI century to the XVIII one. In spite of everything, it grew in a continuous way until transforming into one of the fishing most important ports in Galicia at the end of the XVIII one. In those dates, merchants coming from cataluña settled down in the city and they created a flourishing salting business, of which the current industry canning ribeirense comes. The king XIII Alfonso granted Ribeira the city title in 1906, in recognition of the industrial and commercial great development of his port.

Hercules' Tower is a tower and lighthouse located in the peninsula of the city of Coruña, in Spain. He/she has the privilege of being the Roman only lighthouse and the oldest in operation of the world. There are several legends related with their construction. One of them bill that Hercules arrived in boat to the costs that surround the Tower at the moment, and that it was the place precisely there where it buried the head of giant Gerión, after conquering him/her in combat.

The port of Coruña is one of the economic nucleuses of the city. He/she has more than six kilometers of jetties and almost a million square meters of marine and terrestrial surface. In the year 2004 moved more than 12 million tons of goods in the port being products related with the energy sector as the coal or the petroleum those that more is plentiful. The port was also entrance door for 37.000 visitors and 62 cruises

The House of the Sciences is a cultural museum of character scientist located in the Park of Santa Margarita of the city of Coruña.
Their objective is the popularization, communication and the citizens' of all the ages scientific and technological education. It organizes exhibitions, conferences, prizes, courses, projections, editions, and it collaborates with the media in tasks of scientific diffusion. It also participates in the development and creation of meetings, forums and congresses
