Zalla is a municipality of the district of Encartaciones (Biscay, Basque country, Spain) inside the Valley of Salcedo, distando 24 Km. of Bilbao address crossed west for the waters of the river Cadagua. Summits that form their valley highlight as: Artegi, the Cabin, Basoaga, Espaldaseca, Rioya and Ilso. Zalla limits to the north with the municipality of Sopuerta; to the west with Sopuerta and Balmaseda; to the south with the Valley of Ore (Burgos); to the south-this with Gordexola and to the east with the municipality of Güeñes.Although not this mated with any other town, it exists a town that takes the same name in the Department of Corsica of the South (France), in the municipality of Sarrola-Carcopino, near Ajaccio, capital of the island of Corsica.

Density: 3.355,58 hab./km2.It has industry of the steel, chemistry, mechanics, alimentary and of the glass.In this municipality the main (included the Headquarters of Rectorado) Campus of the University of Basque country is located. Sestao is a municipality of the left margin of the creek of Bilbao. Their higher bench mark is of 83.95 m, City council 67.62 m, and he/she has a surface of 3,5 km² and 31.607 inhabitants (2003).The economic main activity is the industry: steel, naval, electric etc., although in the last years of industrial reconversión it has been one of the municipalities of Biscay with more loss of work positions and closing of companies. The closing of the High Ovens of Biscay and of the infinity of companies and shops that subsisted to the help of these, as well as the enormous descent in the naval produccÃon; it supposed a hard blow in the economy and the society of the municipality. Nowadays he/she is inmerso in a deep regeneration and economic, social revitalization and urbanÃstica.Up to 1805 it formed a single town council together with Santurce and Trapagaran of the valley of Somorrostro (Encartaciones). It was starting from final of the XIX century when it began their development and demographic growth.
