Roquetas of Sea is a town of the county of Almería, Andalusia, Spain. In the year 2005 counted with 65.886 inhabitants. Their geographical coordinates are 36º 46' N, 2º 36' OR. it is located to an altitude of 10 meters and 19 kilometers of the county capital, Almería.It is thought that Roquetas was founded by Phoenicians that located in its beaches and roadsteads small communities of fishermen, also establishing a small point of commercial exchange. In Roman time he/she received the name of Turaniana, in a principle this population was located between current Roquetas and Aguadulce although the establishment you/he/she must be reconstructed in the current location of the village of Roquetas because of some floods.
