Murcia is a municipality and the administrative capital of the Region of Murcia (Spain). It is in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula and it is crossed by the Sure river.Murcia was founded with the name of Madina Mursiya in the year 825 for the emir of Al-Andalus Abderramán II. The Arabs, the course of the Sure river that crosses the city, taking advantage created a hydrological (canals - árabe:as saquia - (canal of barriers, alquibla among other) complex net, the waterwheels - prey-barrier in Arabic - of the contraparada, of where it leaves the biggest canal or of alquibla - because it follows the address of the quibla, treadmills, aqueducts) that he/she gave prosperity to the city and they are the predecessors of the current system of irrigable of the vegetable garden of the Sure one.
