Aranjuez is a municipality of the county of Madrid belonging to the Autonomous Community of Madrid (Spain), taken a bath by the waters of the rivers Cut and Jarama. It is part of the select club of Real Places of the National Spanish Patrimony.Toponimia of Basque origin. Diverse theories exist: Arantza (I "prick with thorns" in Basque), Plows ("fence" in Basque) or they even Plow ("plum" in Basque). The old name of the city was Aranz. During the Half Age it was known as Aranzueque or Arançuex, until finally Aranjuez already called herself in Felipe's time II. Previously he/she had intended a Latin toponym: It plows Iovis (Altar of Jupiter) or Aranzuel (populated place of walnuts), but at the moment the origin prerromano of the name is preferred. Half Age: incorporation to Santiago's Order. An old large house used as hospital of blood for the wounded gentlemen's convalescence in the war with the Muslims during the Reconquest existed. Reyes Catholics transformed the large house into palace and the whole term in Real Place. From then on it has been spring residence of Reyes from Spain until final of the XIX century.
