Port of Cruz is a Spanish municipality belonging to the county of Santa Cruz from Tenerife, in Canaries. In the north of the island of Tenerife. It is located in the Valley of Orotava, next to the municipalities of Realejos and of Orotava. Cruz's Port is located 37 kilometers of Santa Cruz from Tenerife.Up to 1772 it belonged to the municipality of low Orotava the denomination Port of Orotava. It changed their name to the current one when obtaining the municipal independence. In their origin a town of fishermen that was growing was as the local trade was increased. The port transformed into the most important in the island when a volcanic eruption destroyed that of Garachico in 1706.
