The town of Ea is born in the XVI century when fishermen of the neighboring villages of Ereño, Bedarona and Nachitua, establish a permanent establishment of fishermen in the natural port that forms the creek of Ea. Until the XIX century Ea didn't have municipal own entity. The creek divided the town in two parts, one of them belonged to the anteiglesia of Bedarona (Bedaroa) and the other half to the anteiglesia of Nachitua (Natxitua). This is the reason that Ea possesses two parochial churches, one to each side of the river and only separated by a bridge. In the XIX century the port of Ea overcame in strength and population to the two anteiglesias to those that it belonged. Hence the municipalities of Bedarona and Nachitua were fused in a new name municipality Ea and with capitalidad in the port of Ea. Starting from then, the restitutions were invested, and Nachitua and Bedarona became rural neighborhoods of Ea.
