The Lathe is a mountain town located in the Valley of Jerte, county of Cáceres (Spain). It is of medieval origin and their population is devoted basically to the agriculture and the cattle raising, highlighting the cultivation of cherries, olives, raspberries and potatoes. These last gave fame to the torniegos, well-known in Jerte like "patateros" or "patatiegos."
The town has two rural houses, a building of rural apartments and a hotel new complex in the typical neighborhood of Portugal. There are numerous throats and rills in their suburbs, with clean and crystalline waters. The mountain is an appropriate place for the senderismo and there are numerous stone shacks, of Celtic reminiscences.The compatriots torniegos are kind and talkative and they still conserve dialectal features in their form of speaking, derived of the astur reconquest leonés and framed in the altoextremeño modality.
