The Cantabrian Mountain range or Cantabrian Mounts are a mountainous system of the north of Spain that he/she reflects parallel to the Cantabrian Sea. He/she has a longitude of 480 kilometers from the Basque depression until the Solid one Galician-Leonés, going by the Picks of Europe. The mountain range is located in the autonomous communities of Basque country, Cantabria, Principality of Asturias and Castile and León and it represents the limit for the south of the call humid or green Spain. While in their south slope and from the plateau difference hardly exists, in the north slope the difference is enough accused for the proximity to the sea, he/she makes it that the rivers, of torrential character, save the slope fit in valleys in form of V of marked hillsides. Their summits surpass those 2.000 meters in the tracts more accused of Asturias, the North of León and Palencia and in the oriental area of Cantabria. The dominant winds, of oceanic origin, collide with the mountain range, ascending and condensing as a result of the cooling. Due to the effect Foehn abundant precipitations take place in the north Cantabrian slope (of until annual 2.000 mm) and it stops when the winds descend toward the southern slope they are already dry, originating a more arid climate. picture |
