Salamanca is a Spanish city, capital of the county of the same name, located in the autonomous community of Castile and Le贸n. It is located in the Field of Salamanca, next to the river Tormes. Salamanca is famous mainly for three reasons: to possess one of the oldest and noted universities in Spain (of there the proverb "what the nature doesn't give, Salamanca doesn't lend"), for their historical-artistic patrimony and for their taurine tradition.When the Roman dominance arrived to the Iberian peninsula the vaceos they occupied the basin of Duero. To defend the western area they built two strengths: Ocello Durii (Zamora) and Salmantica (Salamanca).
